Roche Ui6s boys headed to Lordship to play St Pats in the final round robin match of the U16 competition. The winners would progress to the knockout stages but unfortunately for the home side, their team was ravaged with injuries and absentees.
The visitors began very well with sharpshooting Luke O Connell notching over a couple of tasty points. The Roche defence was on top with some tigerish tackling from Finn Conlen and Conor Callan in particular and afforded the Pats no inlet into the match. A towering catch from the impressive Joshua McGuiness allowed James Corcoran to burst upfield where he timed his pass to DD Reilly to perfection. Reilly then hit the afterburners and fired a rocket to the top of the hosts' net. This put 8 points between the sides and effectively decided the result.
Roche used their bench well and got great reward from the likes of the Conlan brothers (Sean and Donagh). Also there were great energetic performances from Criomhthannn McGahon and Luca Craig Haye.
The lads progress to the knockout stages to be played next week.
