Roche Emmets 3-16 Glen Emmets/Naomh Máirtín 0-13
A lethal second quarter return of 2-9 proved the difference for the junior ladies in Friday night’s championship round four fixture at home to Glen Emmets/Naomh Máirtín.
Sarah McArdle and Shauna Finn both found the net in a dominant Roche spell, in which they recovered from a 0-6 to three deficit at the waterbreak.
Serial championship winner Caroline O’Neill struck five points as Roche led 2-12 to 0-8 at half-time, with McArdle (3), Dearbhla Begley, Tracey Rogers and Finn (2) tagging on registers.
It was the visitors who actually opened the game more brightly, taking a five-point advantage prior to McArdle splitting the posts from 30 metres.
The third quarter was a slow struggle, Emmets kicking two of just three points across the period, but with substitute Lauren Briscoe knocking over after Dearbhla Begley hit the net, Roche were never in danger of conceding the initiative thereafter.
Aoife Savage, Katie Halligan, Aisling Sloane and Shauna Murray each played very well at the back, while the midfield and forwards had the beating of their markers throughout the contest.
