Kilkerley Emmets 4-11 Roche Emmets 2-5
A weakened junior ladies’ team suffered defeat against Kilkerley on Friday night.
The visitors had just 15 players at their disposal and struggled against their more fluent hosts, albeit it took a goal on the stroke of half-time to really give the winners a comfortable advantage, 1-7 to 1-1.
Sarah McArdle’s long-range effort produced Roche’s opening period goal and when Lauren Briscoe followed it up with a point, Kilkerley’s lead didn’t reflect their general dominance.
But they were more clinical after the interval and with Roche conceding slack majors, the outcome was never in any doubt despite Erinn Dooley’s wonderful, flicked finish to the net at the end of a flowing team move.
McArdle, with a beauty of a strike, Briscoe and Dooley (2) were the girls in blue’s point registrars during the second 30 minutes.
Roche: Connie Thompson; Erin Hogan Curtis, Aisling Sloane, Aisling Reilly; Claire McCourt, Shauna Murray, Rebecca Greene; Rebecca Callan, Sarah McArdle (1-1); Aoife O’Connell, Shauna Finn, Erinn Dooley (1-2); Lauren Briscoe (0-2), Caroline O’Neill, Arlene Marmion
