The U13 boys couldn’t have been any unluckier in Friday night’s second round league match in Roche.
Following their round one victory, the team were even better on home turf, dominating the fixture. However, despite outplaying their more clinical opponents, a tally of 17 wides, two crossbar smashes and a double-digit total of shots dropped short proved costly in the narrow loss.
Backed by the breeze, Emmets were 1-6 to 0-3 in front at the interval and, indeed, led for the majority of the contest.
The move of the match produced Roche’s goal just before half-time when lightning Peter McArdle cut inside from the right flank and picked out Dean Griffin at the back post for his third goal in two matches.
All players played extremely well and should look forward to Wednesday night’s visit to Ardee St. Mary’s.
